Bangladesh Embassy in Iran Opens Emergency Hotline Amid Escalating Tensions
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Iran has launched two emergency hotlines—+989908577368 and +989122065745 (both reachable via WhatsApp)—urging Bangladeshi nationals in Iran to reach out for urgent assistance, including repatriation, amid ongoing Israeli attacks.
"So far, there are no reports of any Bangladeshi casualties or injuries," said Mostofa Jamil Khan, Director of the West Asia wing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He advised Bangladeshis to stay away from potential Israeli targets and remain cautious.
According to embassy officials, 672 Bangladeshis—including students and patients—are currently in Iran, along with an estimated 8,000 to 14,000 undocumented migrants, many of whom use Iran as a transit route.
The embassy is preparing for possible evacuations. First Secretary Oalid Islam, recalled from leave in Dhaka, is en route to Tehran via Turkey. In a Facebook post, he urged Bangladeshis not to visit the embassy premises due to the proximity of sensitive Iranian installations. A new location for embassy operations will be announced soon.
