Malaysia detains 36 Bangladeshis over alleged links to terrorism
The detainees were allegedly involved in efforts to overthrow the Bangladeshi government by recruiting expatriates and raising funds, according to Malaysia's home minister.

Malaysian authorities have detained 36 Bangladeshi nationals over suspected links to terrorism inspired by the Islamic State, the country’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed on Friday.
According to The Edge Malaysia, the arrests were made during three raids conducted since 24 April in the Selangor and Johor states.
In addition to the Bangladeshi detainees, deportation orders have been issued for 15 other individuals of unspecified nationalities, while 16 more remain under investigation for suspected involvement with the militant group.
The home minister stated that the detainees had established a terrorist recruitment cell aimed at spreading extremist ideologies among the Bangladeshi diaspora, raising funds for terror activities, and attempting to overthrow the Bangladeshi government.
He added that Malaysia would not allow its territory to be used as a base for promoting terrorism or extremist movements against foreign nations, nor would it tolerate any threats to its own national security.
