Violence breaks out in Kachukhet as garment workers clash with police and military forces
Locals reported hearing gunshots from the area.

Workers from a garment factory in Dhaka's Kachukhet area took to the streets on Thursday, voicing various demands. During the protest, some demonstrators threw bricks and stones at law enforcement officers. At one point, the protesters ignited fires on the road and set ablaze police and army vehicles.
In response, police and military personnel intervened to disperse the crowd, according to police reports.
Locals claimed they heard gunshots from the scene, and videos circulated on social media showing people fleeing as shots rang out in the background.
The protest began around 8:30 AM in response to layoffs and the closure of their factory, later attracting workers from other factories in the Mirpur-14 and Kachukhet areas, according to police officials.
The violence persisted until about 10:00 AM, but workers remained in the vicinity, keeping the situation tense as of 10:45 AM when our correspondent reported.
Two fire units were on-site working to extinguish the flames from the vehicles set on fire by the protesters.
