The visit marks the first by a UK minister since the interim government was established. "During the one-day visit, key meetings will be held with the chief adviser, foreign adviser, political and business leaders, and representatives of civil society," stated the UK High Commission in Dhaka today.

The High Commission also announced new UK funding to provide essential assistance and services to Rohingya refugees and the Bangladeshi communities hosting them. In a statement, UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific Catherine West said, "The UK supports the interim government's efforts to build a more prosperous and democratic future for the people of Bangladesh."

She added, "I am proud to announce new UK funding to aid Rohingya refugees and the Bangladeshi communities hosting them by providing critical services and support."

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke emphasized that Bangladesh is undergoing significant transformation. "As a long-standing friend, the UK is committed to supporting the economic and political reforms that will drive Bangladesh’s continued social and economic growth, paving the way for an inclusive and democratic future," she said.
