The Cyber Security Act will be repealed within a week, and all cases filed under this act will be withdrawn, stated Nahid Islam, adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, yesterday. He added, "Not only this law [CSA], but all laws that restrict freedom of expression are currently under review." Nahid, who also serves as the information adviser, mentioned that decisions regarding reforms will be made after consulting stakeholders.

He made these comments during a meeting with Norway's Ambassador Hakon Arald Gulbrandsen at his office in the ICT Division, according to a ministry press release. Regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections, Nahid stated that a vote based on national consensus would be organized after all necessary reforms are completed.

"We have achieved a new Bangladesh through the student and public uprising. Over the past 16 years, the fascist government has committed numerous irregularities and acts of corruption. The interim government has now begun the process of rebuilding the country so that both the nation and its people can recover from the damage," he said. Nahid requested Norway's guidance and cooperation in this rebuilding effort. The ambassador assured the adviser of Norway's support for the interim government and its assistance in the country's reconstruction, as mentioned in the release.

Addressing the issue of repression against minority communities, the adviser assured that minorities in Bangladesh are safe. "Special security arrangements were made during the last Durga Puja, and holidays were extended," he stated.

He criticized the previous fascist government for manipulating minorities as a vote bank and failing to seek justice despite significant incidents of oppression against them during their tenure. Nahid requested Norway's cooperation in spreading the truth about the July uprising to counter various negative international narratives surrounding it.

The government aims to strengthen its relationship with Norway as a development partner and hopes for Norwegian investment in the information technology and media sectors, according to the release.

Present at the meeting were Md Mushfiqur Rahman, secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division, Shish Haider Chowdhury, secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division, and other senior officials from the ministry.
