Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today called on the media to extend their support in ensuring a transparent, fair, and credible national election.

“We want to hold a clean and transparent election, and for that, we need the cooperation of the media,” he said.

The CEC made the remarks while presiding over a dialogue with journalists from electronic media at the Election Commission Secretariat in the capital around 10:30 am.

“We aim to move forward with full transparency. Our goal is to hold an election that is free, fair, and acceptable to all—an election the world can see as clean as a mirror,” he added.

Emphasising the media’s role, the CEC said, “You are our partners. You can play a crucial role in countering misinformation and disinformation. We value your advice and cooperation in our efforts to ensure a participatory, peaceful, and credible election.”

Election Commissioners and senior EC officials were present at the dialogue.

As part of its preparations for the 13th National Parliament Election, the Election Commission is holding a series of dialogues with key stakeholders.

According to EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md Ruhul Amin Mollik, the commission will hold a separate session with print media journalists today from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

On Tuesday, the EC is scheduled to exchange views with election experts from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a meeting with women leaders from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the same venue.
