Prof Yunus: Bangladesh Navy and Air Force reaffirmed as symbols of trust

Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus remarked on Sunday that the Bangladesh Navy and Air Force have once again been acknowledged as symbols of public trust, having consistently supported the people through crucial times. Speaking at the inauguration of the Bangladesh Navy and Air Force Selection Board-2024 at the Air Force Headquarters, he highlighted the board’s role in considering eligible officers—those at the ranks of captain, commander, and lieutenant commander in the Navy, and group captain, wing commander, and squadron leader in the Air Force—for promotion. Prof. Yunus underscored that promotion should be based on integrity, principles, and leadership qualities, and directed the board to prioritize officers with a proven record of competent leadership. 

He paid tribute to the martyrs of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the heroes of the War of Independence, emphasizing their sacrifices as a foundation of the nation’s values. He advised the board members to consider candidates’ professional skills, discipline, trustworthiness, loyalty, and overall suitability for promotion. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, who expressed gratitude for his presence. The ceremony concluded with a group photo of the Chief Adviser and senior officers, a message recorded in the visitor’s book, and a symbolic sapling planted on the Air Force Headquarters premises.
