A cargo vessel from Karachi has arrived at Chittagong port for the first time

A cargo vessel from Karachi, Pakistan, has docked at Chittagong Port, marking the first-ever direct maritime link between the two nations.

The vessel, carrying a variety of goods with an estimated capacity of 2,300 TEUs, underscores the increasing demand for direct trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.

Pakistan's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, described the direct shipping route as a significant advancement in strengthening bilateral trade and business relations between the two countries, while also fostering a more integrated trade network across the region.

He added that this initiative will not only expedite existing trade flows but also open up new business opportunities for both nations.
