BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today paid rich tributes to Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, describing him as an 'Immortal Politician' of the Indian subcontinent on the occasion of the legendary leader’s 63rd death anniversary.
In a statement, Tarique Rahman remembered Sher-e-Bangla with profound respect, lauding his lifelong commitment to the struggle for people's rights.
"On the solemn occasion of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq’s death anniversary, I pay my deepest homage to his everlasting memory," he said.
Tarique Rahman praised Sher-e-Bangla as a remarkable statesman and visionary leader who remained resolute in defending the rights of ordinary people throughout his life.
Highlighting his courageous role in the anti-British movement, Tarique said Sher-e-Bangla secured an enduring place in history, with his immense contributions to politics, society, education, and agriculture greatly accelerating the nation’s progress.
He emphasized Sher-e-Bangla’s legislative efforts, including the formation of the Debt Arbitration Board, and the enactment of the Tenant Rights Act, the Moneylenders Act, and the Shop Employees Act, which collectively played a transformative role in improving the lives of Bengal’s farmers and workers.
"In our national history, Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Huq stands out as a towering figure whose unmatched contributions to promoting independence and democratic ideals will forever live in the hearts of our people," he said.
Tarique Rahman also praised Sher-e-Bangla’s exceptional political foresight, wisdom, and patriotism, saying his ideals should inspire future generations of political leadership.
He concluded by praying for eternal peace for the departed soul of the great leader.
