South Korean President calls for stronger engagement with Bangladesh

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung today stressed the importance of exploring avenues to strengthen engagements between Dhaka and Seoul.

He made the remarks after receiving the Credentials of Bangladesh’s new Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Toufiq Islam Shatil, at the Presidential Office in Seoul.

The ceremony was held in a warm and decorated setting, according to an official message. Following the event, the Ambassador paid a courtesy call on the President, during which he conveyed greetings from the President and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh. The South Korean President warmly reciprocated the gesture.

Highlighting South Korea’s role as a trusted friend and development partner, Ambassador Shatil expressed his commitment to work towards further deepening bilateral relations. He also conveyed Bangladesh’s gratitude for South Korea’s continued humanitarian support to the forcibly displaced Rohingyas.

The Ambassador lauded President Lee’s stated vision of enhancing engagement with countries of the Global South and extended an invitation for him to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time in the near future.
