The government has initiated steps to issue Interpol red notices against the owners of three garment factories accused of staying abroad for extended periods and failing to clear workers’ dues.

The accused are TNZ Group Managing Director Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Dird Group Chairman Itemad Ud Daulah, its Managing Director Nabeel Ud Daulah, and Roar Fashion Ltd Managing Director Mamunul Islam.

The move follows cases filed at the labour court in Gazipur and the 1st and 3rd labour courts in Dhaka, the Ministry of Labour and Employment confirmed.

Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain said, “We are committed to safeguarding workers’ legitimate claims. Those who exploit or neglect workers will face stern action. Legal proceedings against the accused are already underway for violating labour rights and related laws.”

He added that the government’s priority is to repatriate the accused and ensure workers receive their unpaid wages and benefits. Acting on a request from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Interpol wing of Police Headquarters has sought red notices from Interpol authorities against the owners.

Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi warned, “Factory owners’ negligence or non-cooperation in settling workers’ dues will not be tolerated. Such actions will carry consequences.”
