Tammy Bruce has been nominated as the US Ambassador to the United Nations, while Sergey Gor has been named Ambassador to India.

The Trump administration has announced its nominee for US Ambassador to Bangladesh, selecting a veteran career diplomat to take charge of the Dhaka mission.
Brent Christensen, a Virginia native and Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service (Class of Counselor), has been nominated as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, according to a White House statement dated September 2, 2025.
His nomination was part of a broader set of diplomatic appointments, which also included State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce as US Ambassador to the United Nations and Sergey Gor as Ambassador to India. All three nominations await Senate confirmation.
Christensen brings direct experience with Bangladesh, having served as Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Dhaka from 2019 to 2021. Earlier in his career, he was Bangladesh Country Officer in the Office of Pakistan and Bangladesh Affairs at the State Department.
Over his career, he has held senior positions such as Deputy Director of the Office of Regional Security and Arms Transfers in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (2016–2019) and Pearson Fellow to the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific (2015–2016). His other postings include roles in North Korea policy, cyber coordination, and economic affairs in Manila, San Salvador, Riyadh, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The US Embassy in Dhaka has been without an ambassador since Peter Haas concluded his tenure in mid-2024. Since then, a succession of chargés d’affaires has overseen the mission, with Lisa Jacobson currently serving in the role since January.
