Foreign diplomats briefed on election preparations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today briefed foreign embassies based in Dhaka on the latest election preparations and security arrangements for the forthcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum.

The briefing, held this afternoon at the State Guest House Padma, aimed to update diplomats on the government’s state of readiness for the polls, including comprehensive security measures, according to a press release issued by the ministry.

Diplomats were informed that the Election Commission would welcome foreign election observers and has invited the deployment of international election observation missions.

They were also told that law enforcement agencies, including the armed forces, are on full alert and actively engaged to ensure law and order throughout the electoral period.

The ministry further assured foreign missions that adequate measures are in place to guarantee the security of diplomatic personnel and premises.

Nearly 40 diplomats from Dhaka-based foreign embassies attended the briefing.
