First round of three-day Bangladesh–US tariff talks concludes

The first day of the second round of three-day tariff talks between Bangladesh and the United States concluded in Washington DC on Wednesday.

According to a message received Thursday morning, the discussions were extensive and covered nearly all major aspects of bilateral trade relations.

The Bangladesh delegation was led by Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin. National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Faiz Ahmed Tayeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on ICT and Telecommunications, joined virtually from Dhaka.

Senior officials from the Commerce Ministry also participated in the meeting held in the US capital. On the American side, representatives from agriculture, energy, commerce, and intellectual property agencies were present.

The talks will resume at 9pm Bangladesh time on Thursday and will continue through Friday.
