Tigers drawn with England, South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in tough World Cup group
Bangladesh have been drawn in a challenging Group B alongside England, co-hosts South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and one qualifier for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, following Thursday’s draw in Cape Town.
Group A comprises India, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and another qualifier.
The 14-team tournament, jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, will be held from October 2 to November 21.
The tournament will begin with a three-team Super Series in Windhoek involving the lowest-ranked qualifiers. Each team will play the others once, with the winner claiming the final berth in the 12-team group stage.
The group stage will feature two groups of six teams, with each side playing a round-robin schedule.
Bangladesh will begin their campaign against England in Windhoek on October 8. The Tigers will then travel to South Africa to face New Zealand in KuGompo City on October 12 and Sri Lanka in Durban on October 16.
They will take on hosts South Africa in Durban on October 19 before rounding off their group campaign against Qualifier B in Tshwane on October 23.
The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team, will progress to the Super 7 stage. The seven teams will play 21 round-robin matches, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals.
The first-placed team will face the fourth-placed side in one semi-final, while the second- and third-placed teams will meet in the other.
The two semi-final winners will face off in the final in Johannesburg on November 21.
