Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon today said education remains the highest priority of the current government.

“The government has been working tirelessly to raise the country’s education system to international standards and create skilled, ethical and patriotic human resources,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the agreement signing ceremony for the “On-Grid Opex Model Solar System Project” at Residential Model College in the capital.

Milon, who also serves as the minister for Primary and Mass Education, said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman places the utmost importance on education. “His first priority is education, second priority is education, and third priority is also education,” he said.

Highlighting the role of education in national development, the minister said no country can achieve the highest level of progress without a strong education system.

He noted that while many resource-rich countries have failed to become developed nations, others with limited resources have emerged as global leaders through education and skilled manpower.

“So, Bangladesh’s vast population must be transformed into productive human resources through proper education and training,” he said.

Addressing students, Milon urged them to uphold patriotism, morality, and religious and family values alongside their academic studies.

“No nation can progress without values. A person’s real education begins within the family,” he added.

The minister described the SSC and higher secondary levels as the most crucial stages in students’ lives, saying they must use this time effectively through hard work and perseverance to establish themselves.

“The greatest investment of parents is their children’s education. Therefore, students must remain responsible towards both their family and the country,” he said.

Mentioning the government’s efforts to expand modern, technology-based education and improve infrastructure, he said, “The state is trying to ensure everything necessary for students, and in return students must dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country and the nation.”

The event, chaired by Education Ministry Secretary Abdul Khalek, was also attended by Residential Model College Principal Brigadier General Mohammad Jaber Hossain, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Director General Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, and Omera Renewable Energy CEO Masudur Rahim.
