EC Blocks NIDs of Hasina and 9 Family Members

The Election Commission's National Identity Registration Wing has locked the National Identity Cards (NIDs) of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and nine members of her family. Muhammad Ashraf Hossain, System Manager of the EC’s National Identity Registration Wing, confirmed the development to BSS today.

The individuals affected include Sajeeb Wazed, Saima Wazed, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq, Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, Azmina Siddiq, Shaheen Siddiq, Bushra Siddiq, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and Tarique Ahmed Siddiq. Hossain explained that when an NID is locked, its information can no longer be altered or updated. As a result, the locked NIDs are rendered inactive, meaning Sheikh Hasina and her family will be unable to access any services related to their NIDs.
