Bangladesh, global climate leaders discuss expanding green cooperation
Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir on Sunday held talks with international climate leaders on expanding cooperation in renewable energy, green investment and sustainable development.
The discussions took place when a climate delegation led by former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and former United Nations Under-Secretary-General Erik Solheim paid a courtesy call on Kabir at his office in Dhaka, according to a press release.
The delegation also included Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, founder and chief executive officer of ProClime, an international climate entrepreneur working on carbon markets, climate finance, biochar and sustainable development initiatives across South Asia.
Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Saimum Parvez was also present at the meeting.
During the talks, both sides explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between Bangladesh and international partners in tackling climate change, promoting environmental conservation, expanding carbon credit initiatives, attracting green investment, advancing renewable energy and supporting sustainable development.
They expressed optimism about Bangladesh's potential for climate-resilient growth and environmentally sustainable investment, while reaffirming their commitment to enhancing future cooperation in these priority areas.
