South Africa secure a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first Test

South Africa successfully chased down their 106-run target, losing just three wickets, to secure a comfortable seven-wicket victory over hosts Bangladesh and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. Opener Tony de Zorzi contributed 41 runs, while Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten on 30 to guide the Proteas to victory.
Bangladesh's Taijul Islam claimed all three wickets during the chase.
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 307 in their second innings, setting a target of 106 for the visitors in the first Test at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The Tigers began day four at 283 for 7, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz unbeaten on 87 and Nayeem Hasan on 16. Kagiso Rabada struck in the first over of the day, trapping Nayeem lbw for 16. Taijul Islam (7) was dismissed two overs later, and Miraz fell agonizingly short of a century, out for 97 off 191 deliveries.
Rabada took six wickets for South Africa, while Keshav Maharaj claimed three.
