Geoff Allardice resigns from his position as ICC CEO

Geoff Allardice has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after four years in the role, expressing his intention to "pursue new challenges," according to an ESPNcricinfo report.
The article, published on Tuesday night, revealed that Allardice became CEO in November 2021, following an interim period of eight months when he stepped in after his predecessor, Manu Sawhney, was suspended.
Allardice has been with the ICC since 2012, starting as the General Manager of Cricket after a prior role with Cricket Australia.
“It has been a privilege to serve as CEO of the ICC,” Allardice said. “I am incredibly proud of the progress we've made, from expanding cricket’s global presence to strengthening the commercial foundation for ICC Members.”
He added, “I’d like to thank the ICC Chair, the Board of Directors, and the entire cricket community for their support over the past 13 years. I feel now is the right time to step down and seek new challenges. I am confident that cricket has a bright future, and I wish the ICC and the global cricket community continued success."
Allardice’s resignation comes as Jay Shah, the former BCCI secretary, begins his tenure as ICC Chair, succeeding Greg Barclay on December 1.
"On behalf of the ICC Board, I would like to sincerely thank Geoff for his leadership and dedication throughout his time as CEO,” Shah said. “His contributions have been instrumental in advancing cricket on the global stage. We are deeply grateful for his service and wish him the best in his future endeavours."
