Bangladesh were bowled out for just 106 runs in 40.1 overs on day one of the first Test against South Africa at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Shadman Islam (0), Mominul Haque (4), Najmul Hossain Shanto (7), Mushfiqur Rahim (11), Litton Das (1), and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (13) were all dismissed in the first session as Bangladesh collapsed to 60/6 by lunch.
The team eventually managed just 106 runs. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the top scorer with 30 off 97 balls, while Taijul Islam contributed 16.
For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada, Wiaan Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj each took three wickets, with Dane Piedt claiming one. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto had earlier won the toss and opted to bat first.
Wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali made his Test debut, with the hosts fielding an extra batter in the absence of all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
This series contributes to the World Test Championship points. South Africa currently sits sixth in the standings, with Bangladesh in seventh place. Aiden Markram leads South Africa in the absence of the injured Temba Bavuma.
