Asif Nazrul: India must understand that this is not Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh
In his post, Asif Nazrul questioned how India would have reacted with aggressive propaganda if an incident like this had occurred involving an organization called ‘Muslim Sangharsh Samiti’ in Bangladesh.

Asif Nazrul, the law affairs adviser, criticized the Indian government for its failure to provide security to the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, the capital of India's Tripura state. In a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday night, he sharply condemned the Indian authorities for this oversight, emphasizing that India must realize that "this is not Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh." The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala was breached on Monday by supporters of the pro-Hindutva group Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, along with members of several like-minded organizations.
On the same day, hundreds of members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a protest near the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Hindu Sangharsh Samiti is associated with VHP.
India's Ministry of External Affairs described the incident at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala as “deeply regrettable.” It added, "Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances," and stated that the government was taking steps to enhance security for Bangladesh’s missions in India.
The Bangladesh government expressed strong disapproval of the violent protest and attack by Hindu Sangharsh Samiti on the premises of the Assistant High Commission. Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Monday, noting that the protesters were allowed to break into the premises by forcibly opening the main gate, in a pre-planned manner. The statement added that this act violated the inviolability of diplomatic missions, as outlined in the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
In his Facebook post, Asif Nazrul condemned the ransacking of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, where the national flag was also set on fire. He questioned how India would have reacted with aggressive propaganda if a similar incident had occurred involving an organization named ‘Muslim Sangharsh Samiti’ in Bangladesh.
Asif Nazrul pointed out that, according to international law, it was India’s responsibility to ensure the full security of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in its territory, and he condemned the Indian government's failure to do so. Additionally, he expressed his disapproval of the statement made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
