Argentine ambassador and BGMEA official discuss trade and investment opportunities
Marcelo Carlos Sesa, the Argentine ambassador to Bangladesh, met with Anwar Hossain, the administrator of BGMEA and vice-chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau, at the EPB office in Dhaka on Monday.
The meeting focused on exploring trade and investment opportunities, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Argentina. Both sides emphasized the potential to enhance trade and investment through deeper collaboration.
They stressed the importance of improving communication and building stronger connections between the business communities of both countries to unlock greater trade opportunities.
The discussion also highlighted the need for organizing road shows and single-country fairs to enable direct interactions between businesspeople from Bangladesh and Argentina, offering a platform to showcase each country's strengths and explore new trade prospects.
Anwar Hossain informed the ambassador about Bangladesh's push for product diversification in the ready-made garment sector, particularly in expanding into high-value apparel made from man-made fibers. He requested the ambassador’s support to increase garment exports to Argentina.
Additionally, Hossain shared Bangladesh’s interest in importing cotton from Argentina, noting the mutual benefits of such a partnership for both countries' economies.
The BGMEA administrator also requested the ambassador’s assistance in simplifying the visa process for Bangladeshi businesspeople traveling to Argentina, in order to promote stronger business exchanges.
