National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman clarified today that Bangladesh has not discussed, and will not consider, establishing any corridor to Rakhine. Speaking at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy, he emphasized that while the term “humanitarian corridor” may imply movement of people, that is not what the UN has proposed.

“The UN requested Bangladesh’s support with logistics for transporting humanitarian aid to Rakhine, not the creation of a corridor,” he said.

Rahman added that Bangladesh is open to providing logistical support, but only if the Arakan Army includes Rohingya representation in Rakhine’s administrative, security, and political structures. “If the Arakan Army fails to do so, and instead engages in ethnic cleansing, we cannot allow aid to be sent to Rakhine,” he stated.

He further stressed that both the Myanmar government and the Arakan Army must cease hostilities and ensure security in the region.

In response to a question about whether there was any disagreement with the armed forces on the issue, Rahman said there was none. “I am working very closely with the armed forces and the foreign ministry—we are fully aligned on this matter.”
