Chargesheet filed against Hasina, 29 others in Jatrabari attempted murder case
Police have recently submitted a charge sheet against 30 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in a case over an attempted murder during the July uprising in the capital’s Jatrabari area.
Investigators have also recommended discharging 66 other accused from the case, saying their involvement in the offence could not be established during the investigation.
Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Khalil submitted the charge sheet, while the court has set 19 September for a hearing on whether to accept it, according to a source in the prosecution division.
Besides Sheikh Hasina, the accused include former ministers Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Obaidul Quader and Advocate Qamrul Islam; former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun; former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman; former Dhaka DB chief Harun-or-Rashid; former DMP Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarker; and former Bangladesh Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain.
According to the case statement, Nadim participated in the anti-discrimination student movement at the Rayerbagh bus stand area under Jatrabari Police Station on 19 July 2024.
He sustained a gunshot wound to his left knee when protesters came under attack and gunfire was allegedly opened by the accused. Nadim was subsequently treated and later recovered.
