Gold prices have been cut by Tk 7,640 per bhori, effective from today
Under the revised rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 242,903 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is now selling for Tk 208,202 per bhori.
Gold prices have declined in the domestic market, with rates cut by Tk 7,640 per bhori, setting the new price of 22-carat gold at Tk 254,450 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced the revised rates in a press release issued on Friday (6 February), stating that the new prices took effect from 10:00am today.
BAJUS said the adjustment followed a fall in the local market price of acid gold (pure gold).
Under the updated pricing, 21-carat gold now costs Tk 242,903 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 208,202 per bhori. Gold produced using the traditional method has been fixed at Tk 170,411 per bhori.
The association also noted that a government-mandated 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge will be added to the selling price of gold. Making charges, however, may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
Silver prices have also been revised downward. The price of 22-carat silver has been set at Tk 6,357 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 6,065 per bhori, and 18-carat silver at Tk 5,190 per bhori. Silver made through the traditional method will now sell at Tk 3,907 per bhori.
