Bangladesh and Kosovo have agreed to explore a government-to-government (G2G) mechanism to facilitate the transparent, orderly and mutually beneficial recruitment of Bangladeshi workers in Kosovo, amid growing demand for labour mobility.

The agreement was reached during the second Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between the two countries in Prishtina on Thursday, according to a joint communiqué.

Both sides stressed the need for a structured framework for the recruitment and employment of Bangladeshi workers in Kosovo.

During the talks, the two countries reviewed bilateral ties and identified potential areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, education, agriculture, ICT, tourism, labour mobility and people-to-people exchanges.

They also called for the early conclusion of agreements on economic cooperation and avoidance of double taxation.

Kosovo praised Bangladesh’s longstanding contribution to UN peacekeeping operations and expressed gratitude to Bangladeshi peacekeepers who served in Kosovo.

Bangladesh welcomed Kosovo’s expanding role in international and regional organisations and supported its continued integration into multilateral mechanisms.

Kosovo also commended Bangladesh’s humanitarian response to the Rohingya crisis and backed efforts for the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism, violent extremism and transnational crime and agreed to strengthen coordination in international forums.

The third Foreign Office Consultations will be held in Dhaka in 2027 at a mutually convenient date.
