Death reference in Ramisa rape and murder case forwarded to High Court
The death reference of the two convicts, along with the full judgment in the widely discussed case involving the killing of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter, has been forwarded to the High Court (HC).
The documents were sent to the HC on Tuesday following an order issued by Judge Masrur Salekin of the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
Tribunal Bench Assistant Pankaj Peter Gomes confirmed the development, saying that a total of 72 pages of documents — including a 69-page full judgment and a three-page death reference — were dispatched to the HC at around 3:40 pm.
Ramisa, a Class II student of Popular Model High School, was found dead at the flat of her neighbour, Sohel Rana, in the Millat Camp area of Pallabi on 19 May. Her father filed a case in connection with the incident the following day.
