BSMSS Demands Reinstatement of Written Exams for Government Secondary School Admissions
The Bangladesh Sorkari Maddhomik Shikkhok Samity (BSMSS) has urged the authorities to reinstate written examinations for student admissions in government secondary schools, replacing the existing lottery-based system.
In a formal letter signed by Convener AKM Azad and Member Secretary Md. Abdul Mubeen, and submitted to the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division today, BSMSS made the appeal.
The letter noted that the lottery system—introduced under the previous government—remains in place and has sparked widespread criticism from parents and students across the country.
Citing reports from various media outlets, the association said the system has caused frustration among stakeholders, who believe it endangers students’ academic futures.
BSMSS emphasized that restoring competitive written exams for all secondary grades is essential to ensure fairness, reduce uncertainty for students, and ease parental anxiety.
It also cautioned that inaction could lead to unrest and instability in different regions.
The association urged the Education Ministry’s 2026 Admission Committee to take immediate measures to avert such situations and rebuild public confidence in the admission process.
