A 35-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate, Abdullah Al Mamun, has died while undergoing treatment after being injured in a missile attack in Saudi Arabia.

Mamun, the son of Shahid Saudagar from Bharbhara village under Rasulpur Union in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh, passed away on Tuesday night (17 March) around 11:30pm while on life support at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Al Kharij city. His father confirmed the death on Wednesday (18 March). His body is currently being kept in the hospital morgue.

Family members said the incident occurred on 8 March, just before iftar, when a missile struck a workers’ camp of Al Tuwaiq Baladia Company in Al Kharij, leaving Mamun critically injured with severe burns covering around 72% of his body.

His cousin, Shawon Morol, said Mamun had been in critical condition since the explosion and eventually succumbed to his injuries during treatment. He is survived by a son.

The news of his death has cast a pall of grief over his family and the local community, with relatives calling for the swift repatriation of his body to Bangladesh.

In the same attack, two other Bangladeshis—Bacchu Mia from Kishoreganj and Mosharraf Hossain from Tangail—were killed, while several others were also injured.
