Army chief heads to Japan for Asian Games opening ceremony
Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman left Dhaka for Japan on Wednesday for a four-day official visit to attend the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman, who also serves as president of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, will attend the opening ceremony of the Games, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his stay in Japan, the Army chief is also scheduled to attend several sporting events.
He will hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of the Asian Games and Olympic associations as part of the visit.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman departed Dhaka on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, for the official trip to Japan.
