The theme of this year's summit is "Empowering Youth and Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises: Building the Economy of Tomorrow."
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has departed for Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to attend the 11th Summit of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
According to a statement from his office, the interim prime minister left Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport on a flight at 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, announced at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy that heads of government from Indonesia, Turkey, and Pakistan would also participate in the summit. Additionally, Malaysia will be represented by its education minister, while a senior official from Nigeria is expected to attend on behalf of their country.
Azad emphasized the significance of this year's summit, stating, “The focus on youth and MSMEs [micro, small, and medium enterprises] underscores its importance for Bangladesh. The Chief Advisor is attending to explore opportunities for our youth and to discuss how Bangladesh can unlock its full potential in the MSME sector.”
This year’s summit, themed "Investing in Youth and Supporting Small Medium Enterprises, Shaping Tomorrow's Economy," aims to spotlight these crucial aspects of economic development.
