One killed, six injured in explosion at CNG station in Mymensingh

A man lost his life, and six others, including a woman, sustained injuries following a gas explosion at a CNG filling station in Mymensingh this afternoon. Police identified the deceased as 26-year-old Himel Mia, a private car driver. The identities of the injured individuals have not yet been confirmed by authorities.

According to Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, the explosion occurred around 3:00 p.m. at Azhar Filling Station and Intraco CNG Gas Pump in the Rohmotpur bypass area of the city. Locals reported that a gas leak in the supply pipe likely caused the explosion during refueling, killing Himel Mia instantly and injuring six others.

Six fire engines were dispatched to the site and managed to contain the blaze within 30 minutes, the OC noted.

The injured include passengers from the private car as well as a staff member from the CNG station, according to police.
