She had no prior record of traveling abroad.

Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which previously caused concern in countries like Japan, Malaysia, India, and China, has now been detected in Bangladesh. The infected individual is a woman from Bhairab in the Kishoreganj district.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control, and Research (IEDCR) shared this information on Sunday, 12 January.
According to an official, who requested anonymity, "We received a report on Saturday, 11 January, confirming a new HMPV infection. The patient is also battling Klebsiella pneumoniae. She has no history of international travel and is currently receiving treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Dhaka. Her condition has shown slight improvement compared to earlier."
This is the first documented case of HMPV in Bangladesh, prompting health authorities to closely monitor the situation to contain its spread.
