Five members of a family were stabbed to death in Kapasia

Five members of a family, including the wife and children of an expatriate, were killed in a brutal stabbing incident in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur late Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Sharmin Begum, 32, wife of expatriate Furkan Mia; his brother-in-law Rasel Mia, 22; and his three daughters — Mim, 14, Habiba, 10, and Faria, 2.

The family had been living in a rented house in Rautkona village of Kapasia after moving from Gopalganj town in search of better livelihood opportunities.

According to police and local sources, the victims were attacked and killed sometime during the night. Gold ornaments and cash were also reportedly looted from the house following the killings. However, the motive behind the incident remains unclear.

Officer-in-Charge of Kapasia Police Station Md Rafiqul Islam said police rushed to the spot after receiving information and that further details would be known after investigation.
