“Ensure justice, the government stands by you,” Law Minister tells judges
“Ensure justice, the government stands by you,” Law Minister tells judges.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today urged judges to uphold justice by making the right decisions with a strong sense of responsibility.
“You, who are serving as judges, should always strive to make the right decisions. On behalf of the government, we are telling you — ensure justice, and we are beside you,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the 20th Orientation Course for Additional District and Sessions Judges as the chief guest at the Judicial Administration Training Institute complex in the capital this morning.
He said the government wants to strengthen public confidence in the judiciary. “The people have given us the mandate... You will always find the government beside you in establishing justice in society,” he added.
Referring to the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, “Our honourable prime minister often says that our workplace is about responsibility and making the right decisions, not about popularity. Therefore, in every situation, we must always choose the right path.”
The law minister said he is not concerned about the tenure of his position and remains fully aware of his limitations at all times.
“I have never stepped back, nor will I ever step back, from making the right decisions in the responsibilities entrusted to me,” he added.
He also warned that corruption in any form would not be tolerated and urged judges to remain vigilant against it.
“If we fail to do so, the long struggle to move this institution forward and the collective efforts to ensure justice for the people of Bangladesh will not succeed. The rule of law and human rights will also suffer,” he said.
“We do not want future generations to bear the burden of our failures,” the minister added.
Director General of JATI Md Emdadul Haque presided over the event, which was attended by members of the Law Commission, trainee judges, officials and employees of the Bangladesh Judicial Administration and Training Institute, and media personnel, among others.
