19 UP members arrested for holding a 'secret meeting' at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar

Police arrested 19 union parishad members allegedly backed by the Awami League during a raid on a hotel in Cox’s Bazar district town, where they were reportedly holding a secret meeting.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided Uni Resort in the Kalatoli area around 11 pm, where the 19 UP members had gathered. The information was confirmed by Foyzul Azim Noman, the officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Zahir Ahmed, a member of Teknaf Sadar Union Parishad, claimed that 70 UP members from an association called the 'Members Association' had assembled at the resort to discuss the current political situation in the country.
The meeting was interrupted when police, accompanied by more than 50 student coordinators from the district, entered the hotel and began harassing the attendees, arresting 19 of them.
During the operation, tourists at the resort were seen leaving in fear of police harassment.
Salim, a member of Maheshkhali Union Parishad, condemned the arrests.
There were also reports that some student coordinators obstructed journalists who were filming the police action.
