The United States has extended its congratulations to the people of Bangladesh on their Independence Day, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties for a "safer, stronger, and more prosperous" future.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the nation's support for Bangladesh's journey toward a bright and democratic future. "The United States remains dedicated to working alongside Bangladesh in promoting economic development and regional security in the Indo-Pacific," he stated on Wednesday.
On behalf of the United States, Secretary Rubio conveyed his best wishes to Bangladesh as it celebrates its Independence Day on March 26, as reported by UNB.
This celebration comes at a crucial moment in Bangladesh’s history, with the interim government preparing the nation for elections that will allow its people to determine their future course, he added.
As Bangladesh commemorates this special occasion, the US Secretary of State reaffirmed his nation's commitment to collaboration and extended warm regards to its people.
Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, in his message, highlighted that achieving independence was the culmination of a long struggle to uphold dignity, existence, and rights.
"The War of Independence, which led to Bangladesh's emergence as an independent nation, officially began on this day," Dr. Yunus stated. He paid tribute to the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom.
Extending his heartfelt greetings to Bangladeshis at home and abroad, Dr. Yunus affirmed the interim government’s dedication to further strengthening the country and ensuring that the full benefits of independence reach its people.
"We are committed to establishing good governance, justice, and sustainable development, while ensuring transparency and accountability through necessary reforms in all state sectors," he remarked on the occasion of Bangladesh’s Independence and National Day.
"On this significant day, let us pledge to work for the country's development, peace, and prosperity, upholding the spirit of the great Liberation War," he added.
