Fakhrul Calls for Clear Election Roadmap to Resolve Ongoing Crisis

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized today that without a clear election roadmap, the ongoing crisis cannot be resolved.

"We have repeatedly called for a transparent roadmap for the general election, which is essential to overcoming the current challenges," Fakhrul stated.

Speaking at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital after paying tribute at the grave of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Fakhrul reiterated that BNP's demand for elections is not about gaining power but about safeguarding the nation, its independence, and sovereignty.

He expressed hope that the interim government would soon implement the necessary reforms and announce the election date to ensure a fair electoral process.

Earlier, several thousand BNP leaders and activists, led by Fakhrul and Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, gathered at the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman, BNP’s founder, to offer floral tributes.

The event was attended by BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council members Aman Ullah Aman, Farhad Halim Donar, and Mahbub Uddin Khokon, along with Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretaries General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie. Health Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam, Dhaka City South BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu, and Dhaka City North BNP Convener Aminul Haque were also present.

Following the tribute, BNP leaders participated in a special prayer for the eternal peace of Ziaur Rahman’s soul.

Additionally, leaders and activists from various BNP-affiliated organizations, including Metropolitan BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Muktijoddha Dal, Mohila Dal, and Chhatra Dal, also paid their respects by placing wreaths at Ziaur Rahman’s grave.
