Section 144 Imposed After Over 200 Injured in Hathazari Clash
Tension is running high across the region, with road links between Chattogram, Hathazari, and Khagrachhari suspended.

A violent clash erupted near Hathazari Madrasa in Chattogram after a young man shared an offensive photo on Facebook, making an indecent gesture in front of the madrasa. The incident left over 200 students injured.
Thirty of the injured have been admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
In response, the local administration has imposed Section 144 in Hathazari municipal area to restore order.
The unrest began on Saturday (6 September) during a procession marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi. As the rally moved past Hathazari Madrasa towards Chattogram city, a young man named Arian Ibrahim allegedly made an “indecent” gesture directed at the madrasa, triggering the clash.
Tension remains high across the region, and road communication between Chattogram, Hathazari, and Khagrachhari has been suspended.
Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Abdullah Al Mumin confirmed that Arian Ibrahim, accused of insulting the mosque and madrasa, has been arrested. He said Section 144 was enforced to prevent further escalation and urged residents to remain calm, warning against attempts by vested quarters to exploit the situation.
The UNO assured that strict legal measures would be taken against the accused.
Meanwhile, Kazi Tareq Aziz, Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle), said the administration is working to ease tensions through dialogue with community leaders, as both sides were on the verge of confrontation.
