Bangladesh participates in IMO session addressing the Middle East crisis.
Bangladesh has taken part in the 36th Extraordinary Session of the IMO Council, voicing concern over maritime safety risks arising from the Middle East crisis and calling for diplomatic efforts to ensure secure and uninterrupted global shipping.
The session, convened by the International Maritime Organization, focused on the evolving situation in the Middle East and its impact on global maritime safety and security.
The Bangladesh delegation, led by Deputy High Commissioner Dr Nazrul Islam, joined the meeting, according to a press release from the Bangladesh High Commission in London.
During his remarks, he expressed deep concern for the safety, security, and welfare of all seafarers, including Bangladeshi nationals working on vessels in the affected regions.
Bangladesh also reaffirmed its support for uninterrupted and lawful maritime navigation in line with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The delegation further urged all parties to engage constructively and pursue dialogue to resolve the crisis through diplomatic means.
