Asif Nazrul: Half of the recommendations could be implemented within a month
The Awami League can still announce programs due to the government's tolerance and commitment to freedom of expression.

Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Prof. Dr. Asif Nazrul stated on Saturday that 50% of the immediate action recommendations proposed by the six reform commissions could be implemented within a month.
He noted that the reform program is already underway, with certain reforms requiring consultation with political parties. The six commissions have put forward a total of 2,000 recommendations, he added while addressing a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
The complete reports of the Electoral Reform Commission, Police Reform Commission, Judiciary Reform Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission, Public Administration Reform Commission, and the first part of the Constitutional Reform Commission were published on the Cabinet Division’s website (https://cabinet.gov.bd/) on Saturday.
Asif Nazrul emphasized that the interim government has no intention of prolonging its tenure unnecessarily.
He stated that the reports from the reform commissions have been made publicly accessible online and that reforms have been proposed at various levels. However, he acknowledged that some immediate issues would require consensus with political parties.
Consultations with political parties are expected to take place in mid-February, he added.
"Political parties have the right to demand early elections, but our stance is clear—we do not intend to extend the government’s tenure unnecessarily. Our priority is to hold elections after completing essential reforms based on political consensus," he said.
Regarding political developments, the adviser mentioned that the BNP has already prepared a manifesto and that student leaders are exercising significant restraint. He expressed hope that all parties would work together to expedite the process.
On the issue of freedom of expression, Asif Nazrul remarked, "The Awami League can still announce programs due to the government's tolerance and commitment to freedom of expression and democracy."
The press briefing was also attended by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
