France has expressed support for the recent diplomatic talks held in Paris, which involved high-level US and European officials aiming to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The French Presidency described the discussions, which included President Emmanuel Macron, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US envoy Steve Witkoff, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, German officials, and Ukrainian ministers, as a "positive process" toward ending the three-year-old war. This meeting reflects Europe's crucial involvement in shaping a roadmap for peace, particularly as US President Donald Trump's peace initiative faces obstacles, with Russian President Vladimir Putin rejecting a full ceasefire.

A follow-up meeting involving envoys from the United States, France, Britain, Germany, and Ukraine is scheduled for next week in London. Rubio also contacted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, emphasizing that the US is committed to presenting a framework for a lasting peace.
