The FIFA president plans to visit Bangladesh by March to offer support for women's football

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his intention to visit Bangladesh within the next two months and reiterated his commitment to supporting the country’s women's football development.
Infantino made these remarks during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the World Economic Forum's annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland, according to UNB reports.
He lauded Yunus' initiative to make sports more carbon-neutral and emphasized that FIFA would aid in the growth of football across the South Asian region, as per Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
“I want to visit Bangladesh in the next two months,” Infantino told Yunus, adding that FIFA was keen to invest in women's football infrastructure in Bangladesh, particularly to help build facilities like dormitories for female players.
Infantino also mentioned FIFA's plans to support women's football in Saudi Arabia, with the Bangladeshi diaspora there set to benefit from these initiatives.
He regretted that he could not visit Bangladesh during the ongoing youth festival despite an invitation. The meeting was also attended by Lamiya Morshed, SDGs Affairs Coordinator, and Ambassador Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative in Geneva.
