Bangladesh have progressed to the Super Six stage of the ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup after defeating Scotland by 17 runs in their final Group D match.

The game took place on Wednesday at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia.

With this victory, Bangladesh finished as Group D runners-up, securing four points from three matches. They beat Nepal by five wickets but lost to Australia by two wickets.

Australia topped the group, collecting six points from three straight wins.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a modest total of 120/9 in 20 overs. Captain Sumaiya Akter played a key role with an unbeaten 28 off 36 balls, including two fours. Afia Ashima (21), Juairiya Ferdous (20), and Fahmida Choya (14) also contributed, while extras added another 21 runs to the total. Ammy Baldie and Maisie Maceira each took two wickets, giving away 15 and 27 runs, respectively.

In reply, Scotland were restricted to 103/8 in their 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Pippa Sproul top-scored for her side with 43 runs off 41 balls, including four fours and a six. Captain Niamh Muir (22) and opener Emma Walsingham (11) were the other notable contributors. 

Anisa Akter Soba was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, claiming four wickets for 25 runs, including a maiden, and was named Player of the Match. Habiba Islam and Nishita Akter Nishi also took a wicket each, conceding 16 and 30 runs, respectively.
