Pahela Baishakh will be celebrated with the involvement of all communities.

Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year, will be celebrated nationwide this year, ensuring the participation of all ethnic communities, including Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Manipuri, and Garo.
To commemorate the occasion, the government has declared a one-day public holiday to promote a more inclusive celebration, according to a press release from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Thursday night. This initiative aims to make the New Year festivities more representative of Bangladesh’s diverse cultural heritage.
Previously, the public holiday for the Bengali New Year was designated only for the Bengali community. However, this new measure now extends the recognition to all citizens, regardless of ethnic background. By embracing this approach, the government seeks to highlight and celebrate the country’s rich cultural diversity.
Additionally, for the first time, the ministry has introduced a special cultural program at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the night of the Eid moon, marking Eid al-Fitr. This event will showcase the nation's multifaceted culture while giving equal importance to the traditions of all communities.
