Online Applications for Dual Citizenship Certificates to Begin May 16
Online Applications for Dual Citizenship Certificates to Begin May 16

The government has announced that starting May 16, all applications for dual citizenship certificates must be submitted online, replacing the current offline process. According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, hard copy (offline) applications will no longer be accepted at Bangladesh embassies or missions abroad, nor at the Ministry itself.
The shift to a fully digital system is aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and service efficiency. Applicants will need to log in using their Gmail ID at the portal scs.ssd.gov.bd, complete the designated form, upload required documents, and pay the government fee via e-payment. Once submitted, the application will be processed online, and a digital certificate—featuring a QR code—will be sent to the applicant's email, from which it can be downloaded.
