Tarique Rahman says BNP will prioritise strengthening primary education.

BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has said his party aims to enhance the competence and skills of primary school teachers to ensure quality education for children.

Speaking at an informal interaction with the winners of the National Reels Making Competition on Saturday afternoon, he said primary education must focus on building values alongside academic learning.

Referring to the participants’ reels on education, Tarique Rahman said social values should be taught from an early age, which is why the BNP wants to place greater emphasis on primary education. He said the party’s priority was not constructing new multi-storey school buildings but investing available resources in improving teacher qualifications and training.

He added that teacher training would cover academic instruction as well as guidance on imparting social and religious values to children.

Responding to a question on cyberbullying, Tarique Rahman said teaching children the difference between right and wrong from an early age would help instil a lasting sense of justice and fairness.

The interaction was held at Justice Shahabuddin Park in Gulshan. Tarique Rahman’s daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman, was also present.

The national reels making competition, titled “My Vision of Bangladesh”, was organised under the initiative of the BNP and held under the banner “Meet and Greet with Tarique Rahman”.
