PM says there is no disagreement over creating a self-reliant Bangladesh
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday said there should be no disagreement over building a self-reliant Bangladesh, urging cooperation from all political parties to achieve the goal.
He began his speech shortly before 11:15am during the first session of the Jatiya Sangsad, following the recitation from the Holy Quran.
In his remarks, Tarique Rahman paid tribute to all those who were martyred in various movements and struggles since the Bangladesh Liberation War. He also expressed deep respect for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, saying she fought for democracy until the final days of her life and never compromised with autocracy or fascism.
The prime minister also paid homage to former president Ziaur Rahman.
Tarique Rahman said he represents the people of the country regardless of political affiliation and stressed that the goal of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party is to make every family self-reliant.
“If every family becomes self-reliant, Bangladesh will become self-reliant,” he said, adding that the party seeks to build such a nation with the cooperation of all. “There should be no disagreement over building a self-reliant Bangladesh,” the prime minister told parliament.
