ICC swaps Bangladesh for Scotland in T20 World Cup 2026, Cricbuzz reports
ICC swaps Bangladesh for Scotland in T20 World Cup 2026, Cricbuzz reports.
Scotland has replaced Bangladesh in Group C of the T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to start in India and Sri Lanka on 7 February, according to cricket website Cricbuzz.
The Scots will now take Bangladesh’s spot in the tournament’s preliminary stage, facing the West Indies on 7 February, Italy on 9 February, and England on 14 February in Kolkata, before meeting Nepal on 17 February in Mumbai.
The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision ends days of uncertainty in Bangladeshi cricket. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had been in ongoing discussions with the ICC after requesting to play their matches in Sri Lanka rather than India, citing current tensions between the two countries.
However, the ICC has opted to replace the Tigers with Scotland, a move likely to affect the BCB, the national team players, and the tournament’s wider commercial ecosystem.
